John trying to release 750 balloons without taking off!

Up up and away!

In June, Barton Peveril Sixth Form College in Hampshire bade farewell to the Class of 2013 with the release of 1500 balloons representing student leavers and the staff who have taught them.

Since 2003, staff and students at the college have raised almost £12,000 for the charity, for which we are extremely grateful. Our Trustee John Higham joined the leavers’ gathering, and was delighted to share balloon releasing honours with student Elliott Humphrey. Fortunately the gloomy skies didn’t dampen the spirit of the occasion, which also marked a decade of fundraising by the college for the Hannah Memorial Academy.

Elliott won the opportunity to release the net after his name was drawn from a hat of those who made donations to Hannah Memorial Academy and added special message tags to their balloons.  The tags, which spread around the county featured details of the Hannah Memorial Academy for all to see.
